ମେରାମଣ୍ଡଳୀ, ଜାନୁଆରୀ ୨୩, ୨୦୨୬: ଟାଟା ଷ୍ଟିଲ୍ ମେରାମଣ୍ଡଳୀର ସ୍ୱେଚ୍ଛାସେବୀମାନେ ହିନ୍ଦୋଳ ବ୍ଲକର ସାପୁଆ ଡ୍ୟାମରେ ଏକ ବୃହତ ସ୍ୱଚ୍ଛତା କାର୍ଯକ୍ରମ ଆୟୋଜନ କରିଥିଲେ। କାର୍ଯକ୍ରମ ମାଧ୍ୟମରେ ଏହି ପ୍ରସିଦ୍ଧ ପିକନିକ୍ ସ୍ଥଳୀକୁ ଏକ ପ୍ଲାଷ୍ଟିକ୍-ମୁକ୍ତ ଅଞ୍ଚଳରେ ପରିଣତ କରାଯାଇଥିଲା । ସାପୁଆ ଡ୍ୟାମ ଅଞ୍ଚଳରୁ ଏକ ଟନରୁ ଅଧିକ ପ୍ଲାଷ୍ଟିକ୍ ବର୍ଜ୍ୟବସ୍ତୁ ସଂଗ୍ରହ କରାଯାଇ ସଫା କରାଯାଇଥିଲା ।
ଏହି ପଦକ୍ଷେପର ମୁଖ୍ୟ ଲକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ଥିଲା ପ୍ରାକୃତିକ ପରିବେଶର ସୁରକ୍ଷା, ଜଳ ପ୍ରଦୂଷଣ ନିୟନ୍ତ୍ରଣ ଏବଂ ପ୍ଲାଷ୍ଟିକ ବର୍ଜ୍ୟବସ୍ତୁର ପରିବେଶ ଉପରେ କ୍ଷତିକାରକ ପ୍ରଭାବ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧରେ ସଚେତନତା ସୃଷ୍ଟି କରିବା । ସ୍ୱେଚ୍ଛାସେବୀମାନେ ପ୍ଲାଷ୍ଟିକ ଆବର୍ଜନା ଯଥା – ବୋତଲ, ରାପର, ପ୍ଲାଷ୍ଟିକ ବ୍ୟାଗ ଏବଂ ଅନ୍ୟାନ୍ୟ ପରିବେଶ ପ୍ରଦୂଷଣ ସାମଗ୍ରୀର ପୃଥକୀକରଣ ଓ ଅପସାରଣ କାର୍ଯ୍ୟରେ ସକ୍ରିୟ ଭାବରେ ଅଂଶଗ୍ରହଣ କରିଥିଲେ । ସଂଗୃହିତ ବର୍ଜ୍ୟବସ୍ତୁ ପରିବେଶ ନିୟମ ଅନୁଯାୟୀ ଦାୟିତ୍ୱପୂର୍ଣ୍ଣ ଭାବେ ନିଷ୍କାସିତ କରାଯାଇଥିଲା ।
ଏହି ସଫେଇ ଅଭିଯାନ ଲୋକଙ୍କ ମଧ୍ୟରେ ପରିବେଶ ସଚେତନତା ସୃଷ୍ଟି କରିବା ସହ, ପର୍ଯଟକ ଏବଂ ସ୍ଥାନୀୟ ଲୋକମାନଙ୍କୁ ପରିବେଶ ଅନୁକୂଳ ଅଭ୍ୟାସ ଗ୍ରହଣ କରିବାକୁ ତଥା ସର୍ବସାଧାରଣ ସ୍ଥାନ ବିଶେଷକରି ପର୍ଯ୍ୟଟନ ଏବଂ ପିକନିକ୍ ସ୍ଥଳୀର ସ୍ୱଚ୍ଛତା ବଜାୟ ରଖିବାକୁ ଉତ୍ସାହିତ କରିଥିଲା ।
ସେହିପରି, ଜାତୀୟ ସଡ଼କ ସୁରକ୍ଷା ମାସ ପାଳନ ଅବସରରେ ଟାଟା ଷ୍ଟିଲ୍ ମେରାମଣ୍ଡଳୀର ପକ୍ଷରୁ କଣ୍ଟାବଣିଆ ଥାନା ସହଯୋଗରେ ଢେଙ୍କାନାଳ ଜିଲ୍ଲା ଓଡ଼ାପଡ଼ା ବ୍ଲକର ନରେନ୍ଦ୍ରପୁର ପ୍ଲାଣ୍ଟ ଗେଟ୍ ନିକଟ ଜାତୀୟ ରାଜପଥ-୫୫ରେ ‘ରୋକୋ ଟୋକୋ (ଷ୍ଟପ୍ ଆଣ୍ଡ ଟେଲ୍)’ ସଡ଼କ ସୁରକ୍ଷା ସଚେତନତା ଅଭିଯାନ ଆୟୋଜନ କରାଯାଇଥିଲା ।
ଏହି ପଦକ୍ଷେପର ଲକ୍ଷ୍ୟ ହେଉଛି ସୁରକ୍ଷିତ ସଡ଼କ ଆଚରଣକୁ ପ୍ରୋତ୍ସାହିତ କରିବା ଏବଂ ଯାତ୍ରୀମାନଙ୍କୁ ଟ୍ରାଫିକ୍ ନିୟମ ଅନୁସରଣ କରିବାର ଗୁରୁତ୍ୱ ବିଷୟରେ ସଚେତନ କରିବା । ଏହି ଅଭିଯାନର ଏକ ଅଂଶ ଭାବରେ, NH-55 ଯାତ୍ରୀଙ୍କୁ ଚକୋଲେଟ୍ ସହିତ ସଡ଼କ ସୁରକ୍ଷା ନିୟମ ସମ୍ବନ୍ଧୀୟ ପାମ୍ପଲେଟ୍ ବଣ୍ଟନ କରାଯାଇଥିଲା । ସ୍ୱେଚ୍ଛାସେବୀମାନେ ରାସ୍ତାରେ ଯାତାୟତ କରୁଥିବା ଲୋକଙ୍କୁ ଦାୟିତ୍ୱବାନ ଡ୍ରାଇଭିଂ ଅଭ୍ୟାସ ଉପରେ ବୁଝାଇବା ସହ ଏବଂ ଟ୍ରାଫିକ୍ ନିୟମ ନେଇ ସଚେତନ କରିଥିଲେ ।

Meramandali, January 23, 2026: Volunteers from Tata Steel Meramandali (TSM) carried out a large-scale cleanliness drive at Sapua Dam in Hindol block, with an aim to make the popular picnic spot into a plastic-free zone. During the drive, more than one ton of plastic waste was collected and cleared from the Sapua Dam area.
The initiative aimed to protect the natural ecosystem, prevent water pollution, and spread awareness about the harmful impact of plastic waste on the environment. The volunteers actively participated in segregating and removing plastic litter such as bottles, wrappers, carry bags, and other non-biodegradable materials discarded by visitors. The collected waste was disposed off responsibly as per environmental norms.
The cleanliness drive also served as an awareness initiative, encouraging visitors and local communities to adopt eco-friendly practices and maintain the cleanliness of public spaces, particularly tourist and picnic destinations.
Similarly in line with the observance of National Road Safety Month, Tata Steel Meramandali in association with the Kantabania Police Station organised a “ROKO TOKO (Stop & Tell)” road safety awareness drive at NH-55 near the plant gate at Narendrapur, in Odapada Block of Dhenkanal district.
As part of the drive, pamphlets on road safety rules along with chocolates were distributed among NH-55 commuters. Volunteers interacted directly with road users, spreading awareness on responsible driving practices and discouraging traffic violations.
